Box Score 2 GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team concluded its season Saturday with a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) losses to Thomas More College at Tomcat Park. The Saints defeated the Tomcats in the first game 8-0 in five innings before winning 5-1 in the second game.
The Tomcats managed just one hit in the first game of the doubleheader, an 8-0 five-inning loss. Thomas More eked out a run in the first inning, then added four more runs in the third frame before scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Mamee Salzer and Jackie Raabe each went 2-for-3 for the Saints in the first game. In addition, Ashley Fletcher went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. First baseman
Molly Jo Everett (Medina, Ohio/Highland) recorded Thiel's lone hit.
Ronnie Burns earned the win. She allowed just one hit over five innings with seven strikeouts.
Allison Williams (Corry, Pa./Corry) suffered the loss. She allowed eight runs, four of which were earned, on 13 hits.
In Game 2, Thomas More took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on Raabe's RBI-single to right field. The Tomcats came back to tie the game up in the bottom of the second on
Morgan White (Warren, Ohio/Champion)'s RBI-single to left field, which scored Everett from third base.
Thomas More went on to score four unanswered runs, two apiece in the third and fourth innings, to earn the 5-1 win.
Ang Masters (Arnold, Pa./Valley) and
Amanda Auxier (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) both went 2-for-3 in the second game. White went 1-for-3 and drove in Thiel's lone run in the second inning with a single to left field.
Salzer earned the win in Game 2. She allowed one earned run on six hits.
Amanda Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) took the loss. She gave up five runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and seven walks.
Salzer also got the job done at the plate in the second game with two hits and two runs scored.
Senior outfielder
Ashley Rable (Warren, Ohio/Champion) was honored during Senior Day between games Saturday.
The Tomcats concluded the season with a 14-20 overall record and went 7-11 in PAC play.
