Box Score BEREA, Ohio – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team picked up its seventh win of the season Wednesday with a 12-7 road victory over Baldwin-Wallace University.
Thiel led 3-0 after 15 minutes of play on even-strength goals by
Carmen Papa (Salamanca, N.Y./Salamanca Central),
Francis Ahia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) and
Alex Casile (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel).
The Tomcats and Yellow Jackets exchanged a pair of goals in the second quarter. Thiel maintained a 3-goal lead, 5-2, at the break on second-period markers by
Timothy O'Shea (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Papa.
The Tomcats went on to outscore the Yellow Jackets 4-1 in the third quarter and cruised to the 12-7 victory.
Papa led the Tomcats with eight points (5G, 3A) while Casile scored three goals. In addition, Ahia (2G, 1A) and O'Shea (2G, 1A) notched three points apiece. Andrew Madden, Luke Riemenschneider and Kyle Sepesy paced the Yellow Jackets with two goals apiece.
Ryan Weldon (Centereach, N.Y./Newfield) earned the win for the Tomcats. He made 21 saves in 60 minutes of work.
The Tomcats (7-5) will return to action Saturday when they travel to Latrobe, Pa. to take on the Saint Vincent Bearcats at 1 p.m.
