NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team suffered a 7-0 six-inning Presidents' Athletic Conference loss to Westminster College Wednesday.
Game 1 of the doubleheader was plagued by rain delays and ruled an official final after six innings of play. The second game of the doubleheader will take place Friday at Tomcat Park on the Thiel College campus. The first pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.
The Titans scored three runs in the third inning and added a pair of runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings for the 7-0 win.
Danielle Massengill (North Bend, Wash./Mt. Si) and
Ashley Dolan (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) led the Tomcats at the plate with one hit apiece. Titans Katie Hughes, Lauren Stoczynski and Chelsea Brown each collected three hits apiece. Brown recorded four RBIs while Stoczynski drove in two runs.
Brown earned the win. She threw all six innings, allowing no runs on two hits. She struck out four batters and allowed one walk.
Morgan White (Warren, Ohio/Champion) took the loss. She allowed three earned runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings.
