The Thiel men's tennis team took on Muskingum University on Sunday and used solid performances at every position to score a 9-0-shutout victory.

The win vaults the Tomcats to 5-3 overall. The Muskies fall to 0-1 on the season.

Thiel started quickly as the Tomcats' number one doubles tandem of sophomores Richard Parks (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) and Collin McAndrew (Dayton, Ohio/General McLane) swiftly disposed of their opponents, 8-3.

Shortly after the number one doubles match ended, the second doubles team of senior Shinjiro Todaka (Tokyo, Japan/Hyuga-gakuin ) and sophomore Yosief Woldegebriel (Hartsville, Pa./William Tennent) won their match, 8-0, and the Tomcats had a quick 2-0 advantage.

Senior Shun Kogai (Tokyo, Japan/) and freshman Logan Sturgeon finished off the doubles matches with a win by forfeit at number three.

In singles play, Parks again got the Tomcats started by making quick work of his opponent at number one, winning 6-2, 6-0.

McAndrew was the next Tomcat to take the court as he squared off against John Barr, defeating him in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.

Both Sturgeon and Kogai picked up wins at number three and four singles respectively, each winning their matches 6-0, 6-0.

The Tomcats picked up forfeit wins at number five and six singles to close out the match.
