GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 12) -- The Thiel College Men's Tennis team fell 6-1 to Geneva College on Senior Day in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday afternoon from Tomcat Tennis Courts.
The Tomcats fall to 0-11 while the Golden Tornadoes improve to 3-9.
At No.2 singles,
Bret Vilage (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) won an entertaining 10-5 super-tiebreaker third set to clinch a 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 win over Ben Busler.
Vilage and
Nathaniel Udell (Meadowbrook, Pa./Abington) fell 6-2 at No. 1 doubles while Trevor Gately and
Kaleb McDowell () fell by the same score at third doubles.
Evan Cessna (Kittanning, Pa./West Shamokin) took a pair of games in No.3 singles but dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision.
Kevin Gilroy (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) also took two games at No. 5 singles but fell 6-2, 6-0.
Prior to the match, the Tomcats honored Cessna, Gilroy and Udell for Senior Day and recognized there contributions to the program.
Thiel returns to action tomorrow against Mount Union at noon in non-conference play from Tomcat Tennis Courts to close the regular season.
