Box Score LATROBE, Pa. –
Cassy Mahdi (Odenton, Md./Arundel) scored eight goals, including the game-winner with 41 seconds left in the first overtime session, Tuesday to lead the Thiel Tomcats to a 15-14 overtime win over the Saint Vincent Bearcats.
The Tomcats improved to 2-5 with the win. It was the program's second win over a Presidents' Athletic Conference member institution.
Mahdi set a single-game program record with eight goals. She surpassed her own record of six goals in a game, which she set in a 16-10 win over Medaille last least season on April 10.
Sharr Martin (San Diego, Calif./The Preuss School UCSD) tied up the game, 3-3, for the Tomcats with 13:13 remaining in the first half, but the Bearcats went on a 6-1 run to claim a 9-4 lead at the break.
Thiel went on to outscore the Bearcats 10-5 in the second half to set up Mahdi's game-winner with 41 seconds left in the first overtime session.
In addition to Mahdi,
Beth Snider (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler Area) scored four goals for the Tomcats while
Kelley Bellia (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) scored two goals. Snider netted the equalizer for the Tomcats with 4:11 remaining in regulation.
Alyssa Lang and Molly Snyder paced the Bearcats with four goals apiece.
Asia Wallace (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) made 11 saves in the win while Michelle Mitchell made eight saves in the loss.
The Tomcats (2-5) will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Wooster, Ohio to take on the College of Wooster. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
