WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Three Tomcats posted 3-0 records as Thiel went 2-1 at the 25^th annual Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College on Friday.

The Tomcats (5-5 overall) fell to No. 21 ranked York (Pa.) 25-15, before topping Trine University 25-19, and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), 25-22.

Thiel will next face Ohio Northern University in the consolation quarterfinals Saturday at 9 am in the double-elimination tournament.

Adam Matthews put the d3 wrestling community on notice with a strong performance in his Tomcat debut at 141 lb., going a perfect 3-0. In his first match of the day, Matthews scored an overtime win by decision over York's Chuck Glatz, following that up with back-to-back pins, taking just .57 seconds to stick Josh Blanton of Trine, and later scoring six points for Thiel with a pin of Lucas Howland of RIT at the 4:18 mark.

Jacob Lowry (Smithfield, Pa./Albert Gallatin) may have gone from freshman phenom to super sophomore with how quickly he is back to top form after sustaining an injury earlier in the season, picking up a 9-6 win by decision over York's Jeff Goldhagen. Lowry then wrestled-up a weight class his next two matches, bumping to 197-pounds to defeat Mack Green of Trine by major decision, 14-1. Lowry later improved to 11-0 on the year, sticking Mikhail Solomonik of RIT at 1:40.

Jerrold Roosa (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) picked up where he left off in 2012, opening the New Year with three straight wins to run his record to 17-7 on the season.

Roosa, listed as a contender on the d3wrestle.com national rankings at 174-pounds, started the day with a third-round pin (5:51) of York's Brett Brigman. Roosa showed his versatility, bumping up to 184-pounds to pick up a 4-0 win by decision over Trine's Michael Connor, before returning back to his usual 174lb, weight class to cruise to an 8-0 win by major decision over RIT's Nick Fisk.

Reynolds high school product Blake Heim went 1-1 at 285-
pounds for the Tomcats, picking up a dramatic 3-1 win in sudden death overtime over Trine's Shane Hendrickson while sophomore Brandon Collins went 2-0 at 157-pounds, including a 4-1 win by decision over York's Drew Spector.

Tyler Wilkes also picked up a win in his season debut, as the freshman scored an 8-1 win by decision over Tyler Brooks Lambert of RIT in Thiel's 25-22 win.
