SALEM, W.Va. -- The Thiel College men's soccer team fell at the hands of Salem International on Saturday, September 22 by a score of 4-0.
The Tigers struck early when Jose Fernandez Huergo found the back of the net at the 20 minute mark of the first half and Mehmet Dogan beat senior keeper
Andrew Hindman (Dunedin, Fla./Dunedin) just ten minutes later to make the score 2-0.
The second half was unfortunately more of the same for the Tigers, as Huergo again found the back of the net in the 60
th minute to make the score 3-0. Ten minutes later the Tigers' Dwayne Phidd would beat Hindman on a penalty kick to put the game out of reach at 4-0.
Hindman made five saves in goal for the Tomcats while
Francis Ahia (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) and
Luke Mesing (Freedom, Pa./Freedom ) each had a shot on goal in the loss.
Thiel will be back in action on Sunday when they open PAC play by hosting Thomas More. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
