HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team was defeated Saturday in its 2012 season opener by the Juniata Eagles, 3-1.

The Tomcats trailed 2-0 at the half on goals by Greg Hess and Nick Stone-Weiss.

Thiel made it a one-goal game in the second half on Paulo Fernandez (Las Piedras, PR./Jose Coldazo Colon)'s (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico/Jose Coldazo Colon) unassisted marker.

Juniata pulled away late in the contest, however, when Seth Ruggiero made it 3-1.

Thiel's first home contest of the season is Tuesday against Mount Aloysius. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
