GM 1 Box Score
GM 2 Box Score

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Tomcat softball squad registered a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader split against Bethany College Tuesday afternoon at Tomcat Park. Thiel scratched out a run in the bottom of the seventh of game one to post a 2-1 victory, while a three-run third for the Bison in game two was enough to claim the nightcap 5-2.

Danielle Massengill (North Bend, Wash./Mt. Si) tripled to lead off the bottom of the seventh for Thiel (8-12, 3-1 PAC), looking to break a 1-1 tie. With two outs, Massengill on third and pinch hitter Ali House (Liberty, Ohio/Liberty) at the plate, a Bison miscue at third base allowed Massengill to score and secured the 2-1 victory for the Tomcats.

Morgan White (Warren, Ohio/Champion) picked up the victory, her first of the season, in relief of starter Kristen Moreland (Dover, Ohio/Dover). Moreland went 5.0 innings and allowed a pair of runs on five hits with two strikeouts while White threw the final 2.0 innings of the contest, giving up just two hits while striking out one.

Massengill finished 2-for-3 with a triple, one run, one RBI and a stolen base. Becky Betteridge (Conneaut, Ohio/Conneaut) was the only other Tomcat to total multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Kelsey Bish suffered the loss on the mound for Bethany (4-15, 1-3 PAC) to drop to 0-3 on the season. Bish allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts in the complete game loss.

Emili Garretson was the lone Bison with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-3.

In game two Maria Vallone's one out, two-run double helped the Bison claim a 3-0 lead after three.

An Ashley Dolan (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) RBI single in the fifth brought the Tomcats to within two, 3-1, but Bethany used RBI singles by Vallone and Emily Jump in the bottom of the frame to extent its lead to four, 5-1.

The Tomcats put one more run on the board in the sixth to cut the deficit to three, 5-2, but that would be as close as they would get.

Kiersten Conwell picked up the game two win for Bethany and improved to 4-5 on the season. Conwell went 6.0 innings and gave up one run on seven hits. Jump slid from her spot at first onto the mound in the seventh and registered the save.

Valone paced the Bison offensively, going 2-for-2 with a walk and three RBI. Jessica Kusnierz finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Molly Jo Everett (Medina, Ohio/Highland) collected two hits, including a double, while Dolan finished 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Amanda Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) was dealt the game two loss and dropped to 3-5 on the season. Callahan allowed five runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in 6.0 innings.

Thiel is back in action on Thursday, April 5 at PAC rival Saint Vincent College. Game one of the scheduled doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m.
