Tomcats Bats Come Alive In Two Game Win Over Franciscan University

CLERMONT, Fla. – The bats came alive for the Tomcats as they picked up their first win of the season in a double header against Franciscan University on a sunny Thursday afternoon at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida. The Tomcats scored eight runs in the bottom of the second inning to start the 12-0 win.

For the Tomcats, Amanda Callahan (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) showed a strong performance on both the mound and at the plate. Defensively, she retired 10 batters, allowed only one walk and just one hit. At the plate, Callahan was 2 for 4 with four RBIs and scored two runs.

In the second game of the double header, the bats were hot once again as they put five runs on the board in the first inning. The top of the third inning would prove to just as successful as the first as the Tomcats notched five more runs onto the board, making the score 10-0.

Thiel would seal the victory when they score three more runs in the top of the fifth to make the final score 13-1.
Ali House (Liberty, Ohio/Liberty) picked up her first win of the season, striking out two people, walked no one and allowed six hits in the win.

Offensively, three Tomcats had a great day at the plate. Molly Jo Everett (Medina, Ohio/Highland) went 2 for 3 with four RBIs, Ashley Ames (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Danielle Massengill (North Bend, Wash./Mt. Si) was 2 for 2 with two RBIs.

The Tomcats will play their final two games on their spring break trip in Florida tomorrow at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
