Tomcats defeat W&J, 32-12 in PAC opener

WASHINGTON, Pa. - Jacob Lowry (Smithfield, Pa./Albert Gallatin) and Jerrold Roosa (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) continued to roll and this time their teammates joined in with some big wins as the Tomcats topped homestanding Washington & Jefferson 32-12 on Saturday.

The win gives the Tomcats' a 1-0 start in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), and brings their overall record to 3-4.

Lowry welcomed freshman Ezekial Stroupe to the PAC, cruising to an 18-2 win by technical fall over Stroupe, who entered at 4-5. Lowry improves to 8-0 and keeps his unbeaten streak intact. He is listed as a contender in the d3wrestle.com national rankings at 184 pounds.

Roosa, who is also listed as a contender in the d3wrestle.com national rankings at 174 pounds, registered a first-period pin (2:24) over Steve Murray. He is now 14-7 on the season.

After Nick Hart (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) lost a tough match by decision (10-5) to Jacob Spearman at 125, Nick Sutton (Butler, Pa./Butler) tied up the match 3-3 with a win by decision of his own, defeating Bryant Myers, 8-3. Sutton improves to 12-9 on the year.
Dan Yori gave the Tomcats their first lead at 141, scoring six points for the visitors with a second period (3:54) pin of Trevor Meyers. Shawn King (Volant, Pa./Laurel) followed Yori's lead, putting the Tomcats up 12-3 en route to winning his fifth match of the season with a 4-2 decision.
Brandon Collins (Hadley, Pa./Commodore Perry) wrestled a hard fought match against Josh Etzel at 157, losing by decision 1-0. Etzel came into the match with just one loss on the season, and is a d3wrestle.com honorable mention at 157.
Marco Crivelli (Clinton, Pa./Hopewell) put the Tomcats up 15-6 with his decision at 165 and after wins by both Roosa and Lowry, the Tomcats had a commanding lead, 26-6.

Following a loss at 197 that made the score 26-12, Thiel senior Will Ringer (Fredonia, Pa./Reynolds) put the icing on the cake with a win by fall (3:20) over Robbie Mies. Ringer came into the match also being listed as a contender on the d3wrestle.com national rankings and improves his overall record to 4-3.

Thiel will have a nice break, with over a month off before their next match against Lycoming College on January 11th, 2013. That match begins at 9 a.m.
