GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Tomcats lost a 4-0 PAC contest Wednesday to the W&J Presidents at Alumni Stadium.
 
Nicholas Vecchio gave the Presidents a 1-0 lead 31:35 into the first half when he scored on a header off Anthony Sorco's free kick. It was the only goal the Presidents would need.
 
Joe Iorio made seven saves for Thiel while Jon Best turned aside three shots on goal for W&J.
 
Rory Duncan (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) had a prime scoring chance with just over 32 minutes remaining in regulation, but Best dove to his right to make a difficult save and keep the Tomcats off the scoreboard. Francis Ahia (Penn Hills, Pa./Penn Hills) also had a good scoring chance for Thiel later in the second half, but his kick from 28 yards out missed the net.
 
A freshman, Iorio made several nice second-half saves to the keep the Tomcats within striking distance.
 
Down the stretch, however, W&J added three more goals for a 4-0 victory. Brian Hanna made it 2-0 on a pass from Cody Peddicord at the 79:26 mark.
 
Just over a minute after Hanna's goal, Peddicord notched an unassisted marker. David Banko scored closed out scoring when he scored on a penalty kick to the lower right portion of the cage.
 
The Tomcats (4-9-2, 0-4-1 PAC) will host the Saint Vincent Bearcats Saturday at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
