GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Thiel College men's soccer team played to their first tie of the season as the Tomcats earned a 1-1 double overtime draw against Salem International University on Saturday in Greenville.
After neither team could record a goal in the first half of play, Thiel go on the board first just four minutes into the second half as
Rory Duncan (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) connected with the back of net off of a great pass by
Jeff Swanson (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) for his third goal of the season to give Thiel the 1-0 lead. The Tigers came right back in the 64
th minute as Lucas Zarpellon scored unassisted to tie the game at one.
Over the next 86 minutes of play (including two overtimes) neither team could strike with the go ahead goal as they played to the 1-1 tie.
Thiel will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
