CLERMONT, Fla. – The Tomcat softball team dropped a pair of contests Tuesday at the National Training Center (NTC) Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., falling to 25th-ranked Brandeis University 10-2 (6 inn.) before suffering an 8-2 loss to the University of Rochester.

Emily Batiz (Leechburg, Pa., Leechburg Area) took the loss against the Judges, surrendering 10 runs on 16 hits with four strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work. At the plate Batiz went 2-3 with a pair of singles while Molly Jo Everett (Medina, Ohio, Highland) finished 2-3 with a double, a single, and a RBI. Ali House (Liberty, Ohio, Liberty) made an appearance off of the bench and went 1-1 with an RBI single.

Kristen Moreland (Dover, Ohio, Dover) started on the mound in the loss to the Yellowjackets, allowing three runs on two hits with four strikeouts in 3.0 innings. House came on in relief of Moreland in the fourth inning, giving up five runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Laura Davin (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) was 2-4 with a pair of singles and two runs scored while Ashley Dolan (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional) and Everett each finished 1-3 with an RBI.

After an off day Wednesday Thiel (0-6) returns to action on Thursday as they take on Wesleyan University (3:30 p.m.) and Lesley University (7:30 p.m.).
