CLERMONT, Fla. – The Tomcat softball team was deal a pair of losses Monday at the National Training Center (NTC) Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., falling to The College of New Jersey 14-10 before losing to Moravian College 2-0.
Emily Batiz (Leechburg, Pa., Leechburg Area) suffered the loss against TCNJ, going 7.0 innings and allowing four runs on nine hits.
Danielle Dwyer (Dalton, Ohio, Dalton) was the Tomcats' top offensive performer, going 2-4 with a first-inning grand slam, seven RBI and two runs scored. Her seven RBI tied a single-game program record.
Ashley Dolan (Export, Pa., Franklin Regional) finished 3-4 with three singles and two runs scored while
Melissa Rankin (Scenery Hill, Pa., Bentworth) went 3-4 with a double and three runs scored.
Molly Jo Everett (Medina, Ohio, Highland) contributed a pair of hits, including a triple, along with a pair of runs scored.
Kristen Moreland (Dover, Ohio, Dover) suffered her third loss of the season against Moravian, allowing two runs on six hits with six strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Everett registered Thiel's lone hit of the contest.
Thiel (0-4) returns to action on Tuesday, March 8 when they take on Brandeis (1:30 p.m.) and the University of Rochester (3:30 p.m.).
