CLERMONT, Fla. – The Thiel softball team suffered a pair of losses Friday evening at the National Training Center (NTC) Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., losing to Lebanon Valley College 7-3 before falling to Iowa Lakes Community College 10-2.

Kristen Moreland (Dover, Ohio, Dover) was dealt the loss against LVC, allowing seven runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Becky Betteridge (Conneaut, Ohio, Conneaut) went 2-4 at the plate with a triple and two runs scored while Ashley Rable (Warren, Ohio, Champion) finished 2-3 with a pair of singles, a RBI, and a run scored. Jackie Belsito (Bedford, Ohio, St. Peter Chanel) added an RBI single.

Against Iowa Lakes Emily Batiz (Leechburg, Pa., Leechburg Area) took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs (8 earned) on 10 hits with four walks and a pair of strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work. Rable went 2-3 with a pair of singles while Batiz and Laura Davin (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) each contributed RBI singles.

Thiel (0-9) returns to action on Saturday, March 19 at Penn State Beaver. The double header is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
