WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel men's soccer team was defeated by the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday evening in Washington, Pa.
The Presidents struck first just four minutes into the contest as Cody Peddicord scored on a rebound off a shot by Connor McKenzie to make the score 1-0. The Tomcats responded in the 26th minute of play as
Jeff Swanson (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) scored an unassisted goal to knot the game up at 1-1. The teams would go into the half at the same score.
As in the first half of play, the Presidents struck quickly in the second half as Brian Hanna notched a goal in the 51st minute to make the score 2-1. W & J would then add one more goal off the foot of Mark Reuter to give the Presidents some breathing room and end the scoring at 3-1.
Despite allowing three goals, sophomore keeper
Ethan Bayne (Palma Ceia, Fla./H.B. Plant) once again had a solid game as he faced 20 shots on goal and made 17 saves in goal for the Tomcats.
Thiel will be in action again on Saturday the 22nd when they travel to Latrobe to take on Saint Vincent College. The PAC contest is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time.
