DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The Thiel College men's soccer team lost their second-straight contest by a 2-1 score - this time at the hands of the Defiance College Yellow Jackets in Sunday's concluding match of Defiance's DC Classic.

Both teams played to a stalemate for most of the first half until a foul in the box gave Yellow Jacket player Joseph Loftis a penalty kick, which he capitalized on in the 40th minute to give Defiance the 1-0 lead heading into the half.

Defiance extended their lead in the 62nd minute with a score off of the foot of Mike Kern to give the hostsa 2-0 advantage. Three minutes later, a pair of Thiel (1-3) freshmen were able to hook up as Francis Ahia (Penn Hills, Pa., Penn Hills) found Rory Duncan (Chardon, Ohio, Chardon) and Duncan found the net to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to 2-1. However, the Tomcats could get no closer as Defiance handed the Blue and Gold their third straight defeat.

The Tomcats return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 9 as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on LaRoche College at 5 p.m.
