HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Thiel College men's soccer team was defeated by Muskingum University by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday at Kennedy Catholic High School in Hermitage, Pa.
The Muskies (6-4-1), out of the Ohio Athletic Conference, were able to strike first when a pass from John Molnar was able to sneak through the defense to Daniel Meehan who beat the Tomcat keeper in the 26th minute to make the score 1-0. Just three minutes later Molnar was able to pick up points two and three of the night as he scored an unassisted goal to expand the lead to 2-0. The Muskies would play solid defense for the rest of the half and the score would remain the same heading into half time.
The second half saw more of the same for the Tomcats (5-5-1) who were unable to break through the Muskie defense and were held scoreless for just the second time this season.
Thiel will return to action on October 6 as they take on provisional Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) member Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
