GREENVILLE, Pa. — A late goal by Thiel's
Rory Duncan (Chardon, Ohio, Chardon) helped the Tomcats avoid a loss to visiting Pitt-Greensburg as the non-conference men's soccer match ended in a 1-1 tie at Alumni Stadium on Saturday.
The Tomcats (2-3-1) trailed 1-0 for most of the game after a goal by the Bobcats' Craig MacDonald in the sixth minute. Sam Kuhn assisted on the goal.
With just under seven minutes to play coach Andy Hoggarth's Tomcats tied the game as
Francis Ahia (Penn Hills, Pa., Penn Hills) set up Duncan for the goal. Duncan, a freshman, has had a great start to his college career. The goal was his fifth in six games in addition to a pair of assists on the year.
Tom Lange (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary) made fives saves for the Tomcats.
Tanner Mesing (Freedom, Pa., Freedom) made a key defensive play in the first half. With Lange stuck away from the net, the Bobcats fired a shot towards an open goal that was blocked in front of the net by Mesing.
Thiel will host Penn State Beaver on Thursday.
