VERO BEACH, Fla. (March 6, 2010) – The Thiel College baseball team wrapped up its spring trip with a 3-5 record on Saturday, falling to Oneonta State, 12-3, at Dodgertown.
The Red Dragons rolled behind the dominant effort of ace Dave Filak, who struck out 12 and walked one in seven innings of work.
Thiel managed seven hits in the contest with five of them coming against the Oneonta bullpen.
The Tomcats did all of their scoring in the eighth inning when
Luke Johnson (Rochester, Pa./Rochester),
Weston Snyder (Cranesville, Pa./Northwestern) and
Brock Porter (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) came around to score.
Porter and
Jarod Nanna (Johnstown, Pa./Conemaugh) each notched an RBI in the frame.
Josh Russell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) took the loss, falling to 0-1 on the season.
Thiel will play its first northern game of the year when it visits Capital (Ohio) University on March 13 for a doubleheader.
