GREENVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 15, 2009) – The Thiel College men's soccer team posted a 5-0 shutout in Tuesday's victory against the D'Youville Spartans. The men picked up their third victory of the season as they dominated play throughout the game at Alumni Stadium.

Cory Borland (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) (Uniontown, PA. / Laurel Heights ) scored three goals for the Tomcats as his speed and athleticism proved to be no match for the D'Youville defense. 

His first goal came just eight minutes into the game as he gave the Tomcats their first lead of the night. His second goal came off a Savian Rosario (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) (Rutherford, NJ. / Rutherford) assist, as Borland was at the back post with the shot.  Borland would then score his final goal, and record the hat trick, just minutes into the second half as he shot a beauty to the top right corner of the goal.

The highlight of the game came off the foot of Savian Rosario (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) as he and Deighton Williams (Kingston, Jamacia/Kingston College) (Kingston, Jamacia / Kingston College) showed great teamwork on the Tomcat goal.

The last goal of the night came off a header by freshman forward Stephen Melfi (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) (Aurora, OH./Aurora).  Melfi recorded his second goal of the season, as the ball shot over the goalie's head.

Tomcat goalkeeper David Rafle (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) (Edinboro, Pa. /General McLane) tallied a total of 3 saves.  The Tomcat defense proved to be solid as there was not an eminent scoring attack by the men of D'Youville.

The Tomcat's return back to action on Thursday as they face Hiram College for a 5 P.M. start.
