Greenville, Pa. (April 18, 2009) -- The Thiel College softball team couldn't get things going offensively during Saturday's PAC doubleheader against the Thomas More College Saints, dropping the first game, 0-6, and the second, 0-4.

Saints pitcher, Samantha Ladenburger, had the Tomcats' number in game one, striking out five and allow only two hits for the complete game shutout.  

For the Tomcats, Laura Davin (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and Melissa Rankin (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth), each finished with a hit a piece.

In game two, Tomcat pitcher, Emily Batiz (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg Area), and Saints pitcher, Dana Bors, dueled their way through four innings of finely pitched baseball, matching each other pitch for pitch and out for out.  Eventually the Tomcat's would be the ones to blink first, as Thomas More batters began poking holes through Thiel's defense, while Thiel's hard hit balls could only find the genuine leather of a Saint.

Batiz allowed five hits and four earned runs, while striking out five in the losing effort.
