PITTSBURGH – La Roche College capitalized on a pair of well-pitched games, in sweeping the Thiel College softball team in a doubleheader at Redhawks Field Monday afternoon.

Thiel dropped a tight, 2-1, decision in the first game, but couldn't keep the Redhawk offense in check in the day cap falling, 5-1.

The losses move the Tomcats' record to 4-10 on the year.

Danielle Dwyer (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton) was Thiel's offensive star on the afternoon, going a combined 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.

Starting pitcher Emily Batiz (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg Area) was the tough-luck loser in game one, while Ashley McClimans took the loss in the second game.

Thiel returns to action on Saturday when they host Saint Vincent at 1 p.m.
