Greenville, PA. (October 17, 2009) – The Thiel College men's soccer team couldn't complete their come back on Saturday, dropping their tenth game of the season, 2-3, to the visiting Bison of Bethany College.
The Tomcats got off to a quick start when a penalty kick by junior forward, Chad Swisher (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) put the 'Cats up by one. That goal tied put Swisher at 24 career goals tying the all-time Thiel College record.
The Bison would answer Swisher's historic goal in the form of three unassisted scores by Bethany forward, Ari Dewhurst, before halftime.
With less than nine minutes remaining in the contest, Thiel senior, Cory Borland (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) (Uniontown, PA./Laurel Highlands) piped a sturdy blast to the back of the net for a score to put the Tomcats within one of the Bison. It proved to be the last goal Thiel could muster however, as the Bethany defense clamped down and ended all hopes of a comeback.
The men return to action Wednesday, October 21 for a home match up against the Westminster College Titans at 3 p.m.
