HIRAM, Ohio (Sept. 16, 2008) – The Thiel College men's soccer team dropped a, 3-1, decision to Hiram (Ohio) College at the Hiram Soccer Complex Tuesday afternoon.
The Tomcats and Terriers played a tight game through the first half, with the only score coming on a header by Hiram's Petar Knezevic in the 22nd minute. In the second half, Hiram scored two goals in a two-minute span to put the match away.
Sophomore midfielder Ron Edison (New Kensington/New Kensington) (New Kensington/New Kensington) scored Thiel's only goal of the match in the 86th minute of play, with sophomore Tate Drennan (Salem, Oh/West Branch) (Salem, Oh./West Branch) providing the assist. Edison was the only non-starter on the Thiel roster to attempt a shot on a day when the 'Cats were outshot, 11 to 21.
Junior goalkeeper David Rafle (Edinboro/General McClane) (Edinboro/General McClane) took the decision for the Tomcats, making seven stops on the afternoon.
Thiel (2-5) returns to action this Saturday when they host Bluffton at 4 p.m. in a match to be held at the Greenville Area Soccer Association Fields.
