R.J. Malson

R.J. Malson is entering his first season as an assistant coach with the Thiel College football team in 2015. He will serve as the team’s defensive line coach.
 
A 2015 Thiel College alumnus, Malson played for the Tomcats under head coach Kurt Reiser in 2013 after transferring to Thiel College from the University of Mount Union.
 
In 2013, Malson finished fourth on the team with 52 tackles, 6.5 of which were for a loss of yards. He also recorded two sacks, broke up two passes, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.
 
Malson was also a member of Thiel’s track & field teams from 2013-15, specializing in the shot put. He earned All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) First Team honors after finishing first in the shot put (46 feet, 11.5 inches) at the 2015 PAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and All-PAC Second Team recognition after finishing second in the shot put (47 feet, 1.5 inches) at the 2015 PAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
 
Malson set a school indoor record in the shot put at the Jim Wuske Invitational on Feb. 7 with a toss of 47 feet, eight inches. Malson also earned a pair of second-place finishes in the shot put at the 2014 PAC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
