Thiel College head football coach Dan Blume announced the hiring of Mike Schuff in July 2017 as the team’s pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Schuff served as the offensive quality control assistant at Division I University of Akron in 2016. The Akron Zips went 5-7 last season. Under Schuff’s assistance the Zips averaged 387.4 yards of offense per game and scored 38 touchdowns.

Schuff will work alongside run game coordinator and offensive line coach Tim Heffernan, who is entering his second season with the Tomcats.

Prior to his time at Akron, Schuff was an assistant coach at Division II Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D. where he worked as the running backs coach.

From 2013-16, Schuff was an assistant coach at Division III University of Mount Union. Schuff served as the running backs and tight ends coach and was part of the Purple Raiders program that made appearances in the Division III National Championship game each year during his tenure and won the National Title in 2015.

Schuff began his coaching career as a student assistant at Mount Union in 2010 after his playing career ended due to injury. Schuff was a part of the 2012 National Championship team.

Schuff earned a bachelor’s degree in sports business from the University of Mount Union in 2013.
