Jack Leipheimer '74 has been a member of Mike Winslow's staff since 2019. Leipheimer, who was the head coach of the Tomcats for eight seasons (2001-08), was the defensive assistant and senior staff advisor in 2019 and 2020. He will serve as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in 2021.
The Tomcats won 36 games during Leipheimer’s tenure as head coach. Leipheimer’s 2005 team went 10-0 in the regular season, won the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) title and was the first team in program history to qualify for the NCAA Division III playoffs, host an NCAA Division III playoff game and win an NCAA Division III playoff game.
Leipheimer became Thiel’s director of athletics in November of 2008, a role he maintained until his retirement in January of 2016. During his tenure as director of athletics, Leipheimer oversaw the addition of six athletic teams. He was also influential in multiple infrastructure improvements.
Leipheimer, who continues to maintain a position at Thiel College as special assistant for alumni stewardship and athletic fundraising, was also instrumental in the creation of the college’s new track & field complex, which was officially named the Dr. Barry ’70 and Carol ’71 Stamm Track & Field Complex, the Coach Jack Leipheimer ’74 Field and the Col. Charles “Bud” Manes ’58 Track in May of 2019.
