Entering his sixth year with the Tomcats in 2024-25, Andrew Geisler has served as the team's defensive backs coach since 2019. He also served as the team's co-defensive coordinator in 2021.
He served as the team's interim head coach for three months beginning on December 1, 2021.
Geisler coached free safety Trou Johnson in 2019, who earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Second Team honors. He also coached cornerback Donelle Thomas in 2023, who earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC0 Second Team honors.
Johnson, who was an Honorable Mention selection as a freshman and sophomore, notched 78 tackles in 2019, tying him for the seventh most in the conference. He led the team with eight pass breakups, forced two fumbles, recovered two fumbles and recorded one interception. Johnson scored two defensive touchdowns in 2019. His first was on Oct. 5 when he scored on an 86-yard fumble recovery against Waynesburg. His second was on Oct. 12 on a 17-yard interception return against Saint Vincent.
Geisler arrived at Thiel after spending the 2018 season working as an intern with NCAA Division I Cornell University’s defense and special teams. Prior to his time with the Big Red, Geisler was the defensive quality control coach at California University (Pa.) for two seasons.
Geisler also worked as a strength and conditioning intern at Saint Vincent College from Jan. 2015 through May 2016. He was also an assistant line coach at Shady Side Academy for four years.
Geisler played football at Saint Vincent College. He was a captain in 2015 and the team’s defensive player of the year in 2014. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Saint Vincent in 2016.
