Travis Wood was named the assistant baseball coach at Thiel College in January of 2021.
A native of Hudson, Ohio he was a four-year letterman for the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders. A catcher, he collected 43 hits, 11 doubles and three home runs in 84 career games. He owned a .346 on-base percentage and a .344 slugging percentage.
Behind the plate, Wood finished his career with a .983 fielding percentage and caught 13 runners stealing. In 2017, he was part of the Purple Raiders team that went 31-11 overall and 16-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The team went on to place second in the OAC Tournament.
Wood graduated from the University of Mount Union in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in sports business. He also minored in business administration.
Wood served as a volunteer coach for Cleveland RBI and at Kenyon College before arriving at Thiel College.
