Matt Elko

Matt Elko is entering his first season as Thiel’s assistant baseball coach in 2018.
 
Elko graduated from Thiel in 2017. He was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2016, the fifth Tomcat in school history to earn the distinction.
 
In 2016, Elko led the PAC in batting average (.423) while owning the lowest ERA (1.96) and opponent batting average (.191).
 
On the mound, Elko went 5-2 with 72 strikeouts and two shutouts in 2016. He allowed just 13 earned runs and 42 hits on the season. At the plate, Elko tallied 55 hits and eight doubles while getting on base at a .461 clip.
 
Elko was a three-time All-PAC First Team selection during his career with the Tomcats.
 
Before returning to Thiel Elko pitched for the Santa Fe Fuego in the PECOS League. Elko collected two wins in five starts and retired 38 batters on strikes on the year.
 
Elko currently ranks third all-time in Thiel history in innings pitched (233.6) and career victories (21).
