Eric Garrett is entering his 23rd season as a volunteer assistant baseball coach under Joe Schaly heading into the 2023 season. A 1988 Thiel College graduate, Garrett was a four-year letterman and three-time All-PAC selection at shortstop for the Tomcats from 1985-88. Garrett was inducted into the Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012.
Garrett held the career record for assists and played on the 1987 team, which still holds the highest winning percentage (.778) for a single season in Tomcat baseball history. Upon graduating from Thiel, Garrett went on to play in the Virginia/Maryland Independent League.
During his coaching career at Thiel, Garrett has produced 42 All-PAC infielders.
Garrett is a captain with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. He and his wife, Barb, reside in Grove City.
