deBlois' late goal lifts Thiel past Pitt Bradford

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 10) -- The Thiel College women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Pitt-Bradford on Thursday at Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field.

After a scoreless first half, the Tomcats continued to apply pressure offensively before breaking through late. With just 4:26 remaining in regulation, junior forward Imogen deBlois (Hubbard, Ohio/Howland) found the back of the net to give Thiel a 1-0 lead. Liz Scheeff (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) provided the assist on the game-winning goal.

Thiel controlled the offensive end throughout the contest, finishing with a 19-8 advantage in shots and putting 13 attempts on target. deBlois led all players with nine shots, including five on goal, while Scheeff recorded four shots, all of which were on target. Julia Fallon (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) added five shots and three shots on goal.

The Tomcats also held an 8-6 edge in corner kicks and kept Pitt-Bradford off the scoreboard. Goalkeeper Brynn Houser (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded three saves to secure her first shutout of the season.

Thiel's defense remained composed throughout the match, limiting Pitt-Bradford to just three shots on goal. The Tomcats' pressure eventually paid off when deBlois' late finish gave Thiel its second win of the season.

With the victory, Thiel improves to 2-1-0 on the season.
