Luke Visgitis promoted to Women's Volleyball head coach

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Aug. 12) -- Thiel College Director of Athletics Isaac Collins announced the promotion of Interim Women's Volleyball Head Coach Luke Visgitis to head coach Wednesday afternoon.

Visgitis becomes the 17th head coach in program history after serving as the Tomcats' associate head coach during the 2025 season.

"We are excited to announce Luke Visgitis as the next Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Thiel," Collins said. "Luke demonstrated a clear vision for the future of our program, a genuine commitment to the development of our student-athletes and a deep understanding of what it means to represent Thiel. What stood out most was Luke's ability to build meaningful relationships while maintaining high standards of accountability. He has earned the trust and respect of our student-athletes, and he presented a thoughtful plan to strengthen our culture, elevate the student-athlete experience and continue moving our program forward. We are excited for the future of Thiel Women's Volleyball under Luke's leadership and look forward to watching the program continue to grow both on and off the court."

Visgitis was instrumental in the Tomcats' success during the 2025 season, which resulted in 17 victories and a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament semifinal appearance. In addition to the team's success, Visgitis played a pivotal role in the development of All-PAC performers Arin DeLattre (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield), Daisy Jenness (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton) and Carlie Reynolds (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area).

"I'm incredibly grateful to Athletic Director Collins and the entire Thiel administration for this opportunity, and I'm excited to lead the Thiel Women's Volleyball program," Visgitis said. "This group has embraced every challenge we've faced together, and I'm excited to continue building a culture centered around hard work, accountability and competing every day. We have a great group of student-athletes who are invested in the future of this program, and I can't wait to see what we accomplish together."

Prior to Thiel, Visgitis served as a graduate assistant coach at PAC rival Westminster during the 2024 season, helping guide the Titans to 20 wins and a semifinal appearance in the PAC Championship Tournament.

Visgitis played three professional seasons overseas, one with Viana VC in Portugal and two with VC Bitterfeld-Wolfen in Germany. Collegiately, he was a multi-year standout at Mount Olive, earning four All-Conference selections. He finished his Trojans career second in program history in career hitting percentage (.399) and blocks (304).

Visgitis graduated from Mount Olive with a Bachelor of Science degree in history. He was a standout middle blocker at North Allegheny High School, a perennial WPIAL and PIAA powerhouse, where he helped lead the Tigers to a WPIAL championship in 2017.

The Tomcats open the 2026 season on Sept. 11 against Fredonia and Muskingum at the Penn State Behrend Invitational.
