SHARON, Pa. (May 22) -- The Thiel College Department of Athletics held its annual Blue-Gold Golf Outing Friday at Avalon at Buhl in Sharon, Pa. with 29 foursomes competing in the outing.
The winning team was comprised of Marty Taylor, Patrick Bellback, Bunky Miller and Mike Shimkanin as the foursome fired a 52 (-18). The Taylor-Bellback-Miller-Shimkanin group placed third at last year's Blue-Gold Outing.
The group of Robert Walters, Chuck Laverty, Mike Nicula and Blase Cindric carded a 54 (-16) to place second. Neil Hoobler, Steve Vosler, Scott Russel and Steve Richman were third with a 56 (-14).
Tino Gentile was closest to the pin on No. 4, Jonathon Loomis was closest on No. 6, Matt Kickman on No. 16 and Jim Dafler on No. 18. In a shocking, yet true twist that was witnessed by his group, Devin Weisbarth was closest to the pin on No. 14.
Denny Ratuasky brought home his second-consecutive win in the long-drive on No. 2. Carl Finkbeiner had the longest putt on No. 5 at 24 feet and 6 inches.
Thiel Athletics thanks all those that attended the outing and looks forward to the Blue-Gold Homecoming Scramble at Pine Hill GC in the fall.
