TRAFFORD, Pa. (April 4) -- For the second-straight season, the Thiel College Men's Volleyball team secured the No. 1 seed and hosting rights in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament, which is set to take place this upcoming week.
Thiel will take on the winner of No. 4 Grove City versus No. 5 Hiram in semifinal action Thursday on Maenpa Court at 7 p.m. Saint Vincent, the No. 2 seed, will host the winner of No. 3 Chatham versus No. 6 Geneva Thursday in Latrobe. Quarterfinal matches will take place Tuesday.
Admission to all PAC Championship Tournament matches is $5 for adults and $2 for students, with students at PAC host institutions admitted for free with valid identification. Henry Gorton, the reigning-league-champion Tomcats posted a program-record 21 regular-season wins along with a trio of ranked victories en route to capturing the top seed and hosting rights.
The semifinal winners will meet in the PAC Championship Tournament final on Saturday, April 11, which will be hosted by the highest-remaining seed. Information on the title match will be announced after the completion of the semifinals.
Team selections for the Division III Championship will be announced Monday, April 13 with NCAA Tournament play starting Thursday-Saturday, April 16-18.
