CANONSBURG, Pa. (April 13) -- Thiel College freshman golfer
Brandon Stubert (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) placed third of 48 golfers at Washington and Jefferson College's Peter C. Rossin Memorial Invitational from Southpointe GC Monday.
Stubert fired an 80 (+7) for his highest collegiate finish. He was two strokes behind Brody Pirt (Westminster) for second and six strokes back of 96th-ranked Brian Meyers (Mount Union) for first. Stubert recorded an eagle on the 505-yard par-5 sixth along with a birdie on the 496-yard par-five eighth. He added four pars on the front nine and three more on the back.
Joe Grundy (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) finished 37th with a 95 (+22) as he recorded five pars for the round.
Eli Nicklas (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) and
Jackson Gadsby (Sandy Lake, Pa./Lakeview) tied for 42nd with a 98 (+25). Nicklas had a pair of pars while Gadsby had five.
Brett Crawn (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) carded a 104 (+31) with one par.
The Tomcats finished 8th-of-9 squads at the invitational.
Thiel is back on the links next Monday for the Grove City Invitational from Grove City CC.
