TRAFFORD, Pa. (March 3) -- Thiel College Men's Volleyball senior
Kaleb Proudfoot (Butler, Pa./Butler) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday evening.
The honor is Proudfoot's third from the league office this season, as he has been named Offensive Player of the Week twice. It is his first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Proudfoot totaled 13 blocks, averaging 1.44 per set, to go with 19 kills and three aces while hitting .341 as the Tomcats went 2-0 last week with wins over No. 12 Baldwin Wallace and Chatham.
Proudfoot notched a match-high eight blocks (1 BS, 7 BA), the second-highest total in his collegiate career, served a pair of aces and smacked nine kills in Thiel's upset of No.12 Baldwin Wallace Wednesday. The victory marked Thiel's third ranked win of the season, a program record. In a four-set triumph at Chatham Saturday, Proudfoot notched a a match-high-tying five blocks (1 BS, 4 BA) and had a team-high-tying 10 kills on .474 to go with one ace.
Proudfoot remains the active NCAA career leader in hitting percentage (.399) and is second of all active NCAA players with 85 career solo blocks. His 65 blocks (13 BS, 52 BA) this season are tied for second most in the PAC.
The senior has logged at least four blocks in each of the last six matches, totaling 34 blocks in the stretch. He's recorded at least four blocks in 10 matches this season.
The Tomcats begin a three-match PAC homestand Wednesday when they host Hiram at 7 p.m. Thiel will take on Saint Vincent Friday evening at 7 and Grove City on March 14 at 1 p.m.
