GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College women's basketball team battled throughout but ultimately fell 88-42 to Saint Vincent College in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday afternoon from Maenpa Court.
Thiel moves to 6-15 overall and 1-11 in PAC play, while the Bearcats improved to 15-6, 10-2 in conference with the victory.
The Tomcats stayed close early, trailing 18-14 after one quarter with a couple baskets from
Kayley Risser (Reynoldsville, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) and
Issy Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian).
The Bearcats outpaced Thiel 25-9 in the second with strong defense, forcing Thiel into turnovers where they were unable to convert.
Saint Vincent continued to control the game after halftime, extending the margin where Thiel could not cut into the deficit.
Risser led the offense with 12 points while grabbing two boards and two steals.
Green put up nine for the Tomcats as
Emily Betsinger (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) scored eight and dished out four assists.
Thiel returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 11 as they travel to Beaver Fall, Pa. to take on Geneva at 5:30 p.m.
