Proudfoot brings home PAC Offensive Player of the Week honor

TRAFFORD, Pa. (Feb. 3) -- Thiel College senior middle blocker Kaleb Proudfoot (Butler, Pa./Butler) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week Monday evening following his dominant performances in Men's Volleyball's three victories last week.

Proudfoot totaled 39 kills, averaging 3.3 per set, and hit .531 to go with 10 digs and eight blocks as Thiel posted victories over MCVL-preseason-favorite Mount Union, Roanoke and No. 18 St. John Fisher.

With the victories, the Tomcats slotted into the week three American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Poll at No. 20 for the programs first ranking since 2014.

In a sweep of Mount Union Tuesday, Proudfoot posted the second-highest hitting percentage in team history (.867) with 13 kills and no errors on 15 swings to go with a pair of digs.

He followed up his record-setting effort with a career-high 18 kills on .515 along with a team-leading five blocks and three digs in a four-set win over Roanoke Saturday. `Later in the day in a five-set win over No. 18 St. John Fisher, Proudfoot notched eight kills on .250 along with three blocks and five digs. The win over the Cardinals marked Thiel's 16th straight home win, the longest streak in team history, and the program's first ever home win over a ranked opponent.

Proudfoot is the active NCAA leader in career hitting percentage (.392) as he aims to become the 26th DIII player ever to hit .401 or better in a career. His 74 career solo blocks are second amongst all active NCAA players. Proudfoot leads the PAC in hitting percentage at .416 (min. 100 swings).

The Tomcats are back in action Thursday for a 7 p.m. non-conference clash at Penn State Behrend before heading up to Buffalo Saturday for matches against Carlow (1 p.m.) and No. 17 Buffalo State (3 p.m.).
