YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Feb. 26) -- The Thiel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field teams competed at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships Thursday from Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The men totaled 11 points for the championships while the women, while they did not score, had a solid day as well.

Aamiir Shaw (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) produced his strongest showing yet for the Tomcats, as he placed fourth in the 200m at 22.27 seconds, which is the fastest by a Thiel freshman all time and the third fastest time in program history. Shaw was ranked 14th in the conference in the 200m coming into the day.

In the 60m, Shaw, who was ranked 19th in the PAC heading into the day, placed eighth with a run of 7.06 seconds to tie the Thiel record. Also in the 60, John Bresnan (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) PRd at 7.23 seconds, the fifth-best run in team history.

In high jump, Zack Loeser (Long Island, N.Y./Rocky Point) and Carter Alexandre (North Lauderdale, Fla./Stranahan) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, with each athlete posting a PR. Loeser logged a 1.89m jump while Alexandre sat at 1.84m.

Back on the track, Brady Wear (Kinsman, Ohio/Joseph Badger) PRd at 54.59 seconds while the DMR quartet of Andrew Yocum (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman), Logan Smith (Girard, Pa./Girard), Griffin Fraterrigo (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) and Cooper Riley (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) had a season-best showing of 12:05.14.

For the women, Cydney Wierzbowski (Derry, Pa./Derry) had a strong day in the weight throw, placing ninth after not being projected to make the finals. Her PR throw of 12.14m was third-best in team history, just 1 centimeter off tying the second-best toss for the Cats.

Also in throws, Analeise Burns (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) PRd in the shot put at 10.19m, the second-best mark ever by a Thiel freshman and sixth-best mark in team history.

Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) notched the sixth-best freshman weight throw in team history at 9.77m.

The Tomcats will cap the indoor regular season at Ohio Northern's Polar Bear Final Qualifier next Saturday, March 7.
