YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Jan. 31) -- The Thiel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field squads took part in the two-day YSU Mid-Major Invite at Watson and Tressel Training Site Friday and Saturday.
For the men, in distance,
Nathaniel Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) had a strong showing on both days as he PRd in the 5k at 16:27.39, a 50-second improvement over his previous PR. His mark is fifth all-time in team history. Turner also PRd in the mile at 4:45.15, the 10th-best mark in team history.
In jumps,
Kevin Carroll (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) placed 16th in the long jump and triple jump. His 6.31m long jump sits in the top 10 of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) athletes.
In the 400m,
Brady Wear (Kinsman, Ohio/Joseph Badger) had an indoor PR of 56.20 while
Aamiir Shaw (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) PRd at 53.37 to place 49th.
In throws,
Elijah Butterly (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) PRd in the shot put at 11.22m.
For the women,
Savannah Schill (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) placed 25th in the 1000m at 4:26.61 to place 25th.
In the shot put,
Analeise Burns (/) placed 46th with an 8.51m throw.
Cydney Wierzbowski (Derry, Pa./Derry) sat at 8.11m while
Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) (7.98m) and
Jasmine Carney (DuBois, Pa/DuBois) (7.91m) were not far behind.
In the weight throw, Wierzbowski was 35th at 10.49m while
Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) was 56th with an 8.23m throw.
Both squads are back in action Feb. 14 for the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games.
