GENEVA, Ohio (Jan. 24) -- The Thiel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field teams opened their 2026 seasons at the SPIRE Midwest Open Saturday from SPIRE Institute Indoor Track & Field Facility.
On the men's side,
Aamiir Shaw (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) logged a 23.235-second run in the 200-meter, which is 10th-best in program history, to place 23rd. In the 400-meter,
Brady Wear (Kinsman, Ohio/Joseph Badger) PR'd with a run of 56.26, improving by over a second from his previous personal best.
In jumps,
Kevin Carroll (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) had a personal-record of 12.14 meters in the triple jump to place 10th. His mark is currently fourth best in the PAC.
Zack Loeser (Long Island, N.Y./Rocky Point) finished 14th in the triple jump with a jump of 11.90 meters.
Khalil Holmes (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) PR'd in the long jump at 5.93 meters, beating his old best of 5.66 meters, to finish 18th.
Noah Glunk (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonire Valley) PR'd in the shot put with an 11.25-meter throw, beating his old best of 10.29 meters.
In distance,
Nathaniel Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) and
Cooper Riley (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) each PR'd in the mile. Turner finished 35th with a run of 4:48.06 while Riley was 45th at 5:00.37.
For the women,
Cydney Wierzbowski (Derry, Pa./Derry) PR'd in the weight throw with an 11.96-meter throw to place 12th. Her throw was good for third-best in team history and was a whole meter better than her previous mark.
In the mile,
Savannah Schill (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) finished 33rd with a run of 7:59.16.
Analeise Burns (/) (9.11 meters) and
Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) (8.20 meters) finished 29th and 36th, respectively in the shot put.
The Tomcats are back in action next Friday and Saturday for the YSU Mid-Major Invite.
