GENEVA, Ohio (Feb. 14) -- The Thiel College Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field squads had strong showings at the SPIRE Collegiate Games Saturday from SPIRE Institute Indoor Track & Field Facility.
On the men's side,
Aamiir Shaw (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) PR'd in the 60m at 7.24 seconds which is fourth-best in team history. Shaw also PR'd in the 200m at 22.89 seconds to place 23rd. His run puts him fifth-best in Thiel history.
Brady Wear (Kinsman, Ohio/Joseph Badger) also PR'd in the 200 at 24.71 seconds.
Shaw's mark in the 60m was fourth all time by a Thiel freshman while his 200m mark was second-best all time by a Thiel freshman.
In distance,
Nathaniel Turner (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) had a strong showing in the 3k as he placed 16th with a PR run of 9:18.70, battering his previous PR by 30 seconds.
Cooper Riley (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) PRd in the mile at 4:57.26.
In mid-distance,
Griffin Fraterrigo (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) PRd in the 800 at 2:15.62. In throws,
Noah Glunk (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonire Valley),
Elijah Butterly (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) and
Dominic Lugo (Antioch, Cali./Deer Valley) each PRd in the shot put at 11.47m, 11.34m and 8.91m respectively.
Jacob Fraley (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) PRd in the shot put (11.06m) and weight throw (9.46m).
In jumps,
Zack Loeser (Long Island, N.Y./Rocky Point) placed 11th in the high jump with a PR of 1.85m, which is seventh all time in program history. He placed seventh in the triple jump with a 12.00m jump.
Carter Alexandre (North Lauderdale, Fla./Stranahan), in his collegiate debut, had a 1.80m high jump, the 10th-best mark in program history.
For the women,
Analeise Burns (Indiana, Pa./Marion Center) PRd in the weight throw at 10.84m to place 15th and the shot put at 9.22m to place 20th. Her throw in the weight was sixth all time.
Ariel Carney (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) set PRs in the shot put (9.43m) and weight throw (9.14m) while
Jasmine Carney (DuBois, Pa/DuBois) did the same at 8.63m in the shot and 8.18m in the weight throw.
Alannah Estvander (/) followed suit with PRs in the shot at 6.00m and 7.82m in the weight throw.
Cydney Wierzbowski (Derry, Pa./Derry) placed 13th in the weight throw at 11.89m.
On the track,
Savannah Schill (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) PRd in the 800m at 3:27.19.
Thiel is back in action Friday for the Mount Union Tune-Up from Peterson Fieldhouse.
