Men's Hoops bested at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Feb. 11) -- The Thiel College Men's Basketball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) North Division clash 74-67 at Geneva College Wednesday evening from Metheny Fieldhouse.

The Tomcats fall to 6-15 (3-10) while the Golden Tornadoes rise to 9-13 (6-7).

Anthony Henderson II (Miramar, Fla./Somerset Academy) led Thiel with a career-most 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting, 3-of-4 from deep and 5-of-6 at the charity stripe. He grabbed four boards (two offensive) and swiped one steal.

Kadenne Kemp (Inglewood, Cali./Northgate (Pa.)) added 10 points for the Cats and hauled in seven boards. Das Sanders (Dallas, Texas/Fort Worth Christian) added 8 points with a team-high-tying two steals while Kenny Ermat (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla./Boyd Anderson) recorded 8 points, six boards and a game-high-tying three steals.

Christian Davis (Washington, D.C./DC International) and Zech Lilly (Madison Heights, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) each added 6 points in reserve with Lilly corralling a team-most eight rebounds. 

Thiel got off to a hot start and led 7-0 within the first 1:30 of the opening half. The home side got back into as neither side led by more than two possessions the entire half. The Golden Tornadoes took a 34-33 lead into the locker room thanks to a buzzer beater.

Geneva led by as many as 9 in the second half as a quick 5-1 spurt pushed the home side 53-44 with 11:59 left. The Tomcats clawed away at the deficit and got as close as 4 down with 4:28 left at 60-56 on an 8-4 run. Geneva responded with 12 of the next 14 over 3:12 to ice the game away and seal the win.

Thiel held a 20-0 lead in bench scoring and a 14-4 edge in fast-break points.

The Tomcats are back in action Saturday for a home 3 p.m. PAC interdivisional clash with W&J.
