GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 3) -- The Thiel College Football team dropped a 42-10 tilt with Allegheny College Saturday evening from Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
The Tomcats dip to 0-5 (0-3) while the Gators rise to 5-0 (3-0).
Thiel began the game with a 13-play, 68-yard drive that resulted in a
Ben Paserk (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) field goal to make it 3-0. The Cats converted a pair of third downs on the drive, including a 16-yard completion by Drevin Newton.
The Gators responded with scores on their next three drives to lead 21-3 at the break. The visitors added scores on their first three second-half drives to climb ahead 42-3.
The Tomcats put together an eight-play, 54-yard drive capped with a Newton 30-yard touchdown from
Braxton Dente (Akron, Ohio/Tallmadge) on 4th and 17 to spell the 41-10 final.
Newton led Thiel with 46 receiving yards while
Catrell Love Jr. (Las Vegas, Nev./Cypress Falls (Texas)) had a game-most five grabs for 40 yards.
Isaiah Gladney (Jackson, Ala./Jackson) made four receptions for 38 yards. Dente completed 5-of-7 passes for 68 yards.
Uriah Webber (Cleveland, Ohio/Ginn Academy) led Thiel with 36 yards on the ground while
Devin Philips (Frederick, Md./Brunswick) had 35.
Tyrese Madry (Indianapolis, Ind./Athens Drive Magnet (N.C.)) made a game-most nine tackles with a TFL while
Dwayne Simpkins (Hopewell, Va./Prince George) and
Aubrey Alexander (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) each had seven tackles.
Ty'Keem Wheeler (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) also had seven tackles with a sack and a blocked PAT.
Thiel hits the road in Week 6 for a PAC-clash at Saint Vincent beginning at 1 p.m.
