GREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 7) -- The Thiel College Men's Basketball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) clash with Allegheny College 77-53 Wednesday evening on Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats dip to 4-7 (1-2) while the Gators rise to 4-8 (2-1).
The home side opened the second half with an 8-1 run to get within 5 at 39-34 with 14:55 remaining. Four Tomcats registered buckets in the run as a
Kenny Ermat (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla./Boyd Anderson) driving layup capped the spurt. The visitors answered with 14-of-18 over the next 4:49 to climb ahead 53-38 and force a Thiel timeout. The Gators went on to outscore the Cats 24-15 in the final 9:38 to spell the 77-53 final.
Ermat led Thiel with a career-most 11 points on 3-of-8 shooting and 5-of-8 from the free-throw line. He snared a team-best six boards and distributed a team-leading three helpers while blocking a pair of shots.
Kadenne Kemp (Inglewood, Cali./Northgate (Pa.)), fresh off a career performance with 18 points and 10 rebounds, contributed 9 points on 3-of-4 from the field while grabbing five boards.
Logan Lentz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) added 6 points and five boards while
Khamari Accursio-Harris (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) had 6 points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Das Sanders (Dallas, Texas/Fort Worth Christian) pitched in 6 points.
The Tomcats struggled shooting the ball, going 18-for-47 (38.3 percent) from the field, 1-of-9 (11.1 percent) from deep and 16-of-29 (55.2 percent) at the charity stripe. The Gators connected on 12-of-30 (40 percent) 3-balls in the win.
Thiel is back in action Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. PAC clash at Chatham.
