Tomcats dropped at Chatham

PITTSBURGH (Jan. 10) -- The Thiel College Men's Basketball team fell 73-56 at Chatham University Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action from the Athletic and Fitness Center in Pittsburgh.

The Tomcats dip to 4-8 (1-3) while the Cougars rise to 8-4 (3-1).

Thiel used a 6-0 spurt to jump ahead 18-11 on a Kenny Ermat (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla./Boyd Anderson) layup 8 minutes into the contest. Chatham answered with a jumper before Anthony Henderson II (Miramar, Fla./Somerset Academy) canned a floater top make it 20-13. The home side went on to outscore the visitors 21-9 in the last 11 minutes of the half to take a 34-29 lead into the locker room.

Henderson II led Thiel with 9 points and three assists. Ermat contributed 4 points and eight rebounds.

The Cougars opened the second half with a 12-0 run to pull ahead 46-29 at the 16:36 mark. The Blue and Gold struggled in the second half, going 9-for-32 from the field as they were outscored 39-27. 

11 different Tomcats tallied at least 1 point in the loss. Zech Lilly (Madison Heights, Va./Fork Union Military Academy) posted a career-most 8 points on 4-of-5 from the field. Kadenne Kemp (Inglewood, Cali./Northgate (Pa.)) added 4 points and a contest-best nine boards. Khamari Accursio-Harris (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) added 6 points as he was limited in the first half with foul trouble. 

Elijah Nelson (Baltimore, Md./Lake Clifton) posted a career-most 8 points on 3-of-6 from the field and 2-of-3 from deep. Logan Lentz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) notched 6 points in reserve. 

Thiel held a 29-17 edge in bench points and a 10-8 advantage in fast-break scoring.

The Tomcats are back in action Wednesday evening at 7:30 for a PAC showdown with Geneva.
